What is a Commercial Loop system?

A Commercial Loop system is an audio system for medium and larger size rooms, meeting rooms, conference suits, places of worship theatres etc. The loop system allows people with hearing aids to hear sound directly from a microphone or audio source directly into their hearing aids via a magnetic field.

In order to use any loop systems, hearing aids must be set to ‘T’ (Telecoil) setting.

The Way it works

The induction loop is a small cable that goes round the perimeter of a room or listening area and forms a loop. Both ends of the cable are connected to the output of a specialist design loop amplifier. A current from the loop amplifier powers the cable and the amplifier gets its signal from a direct sound source. This can be a microphone or a connection into a TV, PA system, laptop or DVD player.

How it can help

The resulting electric current in the induction loop produces a magnetic field. The hearing aid user can pick up this field when they switch their hearing instrument to the T position. The user is then able to hear audible sound very clearly with the background noise significantly reduced, a loop will provide audio to any hearing aid user within the magnetic field.

We recommend

Choosing the right loop system does require support from a loop engineer, so we recommend that when looking for a room loop that you contact one of our engineers who will be able to provide an evaluation and advice on the best system and ensure it meets your requirements.
